​One Saturday night, while I was doing my 11 p.m.–2 a.m. show, I received two bomb-threat calls. The caller said there was a bomb in the cafeteria that would explode in 20 minutes. I contacted security, and about 15 minutes later, another call came in around the time security arrived.

The building was evacuated, including a dance that was taking place in the cafeteria. With about 10 minutes remaining, I announced that WNHU would play the live version of Yes’s “Close to the Edge.” I then locked up the station and left the building.

​

After 20 minutes had passed, I returned to the station, announced Yes again, and continued my show.

​

“Will always remember that night.”

I also created “The Pop Shoppe,” a program that WNHU alum Don Fertman later revived.
