For Students
Whether you are a current University of New Haven student, an incoming student, or considering applying, WNHU offers opportunities for everyone to get involved. Students from any major and any year are welcome with no prior radio experience required.
At WNHU, you can host your own radio show, produce and develop podcasts, DJ at events on campus, learn hands-on broadcasting and audio production skills, and take part in Open Studio sessions and station activities. It’s also a great way to meet other students, explore creative interests, and gain real-world media experience in a collaborative environment.
No matter your background or experience level, there is a place for you at WNHU, and a chance to make your voice heard on and off the air.

Host a Show
Hosting a show at WNHU gives you the opportunity to create and run your own radio program from start to finish. As a host, you’ll choose your content, build your playlist or format, and learn how to operate studio equipment while developing your on-air voice and style. It’s a hands-on experience where you can share your interests, connect with listeners, and bring your ideas to life on real radio.
Host a Podcast
Hosting a podcast at WNHU gives you the opportunity to create your own audio or video show from the ground up. You’ll develop your concept, plan episodes, and learn how to record, edit, and produce professional-quality content using station equipment and resources. Whether you’re interested in storytelling, interviews, music, sports, or talk formats, podcasting at WNHU lets you build your voice, share your ideas, and gain real media production experience in a creative, supportive environment.
Open Studio
Open Studio is a weekly event held every Friday from 4–6 PM during the fall semester, where students can walk in and get hands-on experience with WNHU. It’s an open, welcoming space to learn how the station operates, try out studio equipment, meet current members, and get involved with broadcasting at your own pace. Whether you’re brand new or already have experience, Open Studio is the perfect way to explore everything WNHU has to offer.
